Introduction of 1/10th Electric

SMCC has prided itself in being one of the few clubs that can offer racing for all scales of IC engined cars and trucks, however following an increasing number of requests to run a class for electrics, the committee decided to put the suggestion to it’s members at it’s AGM on 21st November 2009.

The members voted in favour of this change and as such, SMCC is pleased to announce that it will be running a class for 1/10th Electrics starting in 2010

For 2010 it will be run as an open class with limited restrictions, until competitors indicate their preferences, when the rules will then be up for revision and put to vote among it members.

The aim of this move, coupled with the reduction of Junior membership fee’s is to give people another location to race and it is also hoped that it will help bring model car racing into the reach of junior members who are unlikely to be able to sustain the costs involved in the larger scales of model racing.

Reduction of Junior membership fee’s for 2010

At this years AGM, it was decided that the Junior membership fee would be reduced to just £10 for the year. Previously £20 per year, SMCC’s aim is to help bring the costs involved in model car racing into the reach of juniors who may have to fund their racing themselves or parents who may have otherwise thought it too expensive. SMCC is also offering all new racers at the club, 2 free meetings to get you started.
